Almost 200 minutes of his Royal Purple Highness Prince [Ghent, July 6th 2011]

Nothing short than a great experience - Prince's second concert in two days on the historic St. Pieters Square in Ghent, Belgium. Few artist can play a hit-packed three hours, while still leaving you hungry for more of their hits - he did. Balancing his time between singing, directing the show and his New Power Generation band, playing guitar, managing the crowd, and exchanging naughty looks with his new girlfriend - Prince did it all. I included the concert tracklist at the end of this page.

The great venue, the ever so funky music, the impressive performance by Prince and his band, ... it didn't need any special effects to be a memorable evening. Nevertheless, the sound system was solid, the light and video installations were up to snuff (even though Prince ordered the lights off multiple times during the show) - and they did throw in some fireworks and purple confetti to top it off. I'm very glad I could be there !

Prince also introduced us to his beautiful new girldfriend, Andy Allo, and performed a nice duet with her (Prince on piano, she did the vocals) which ended up being one of the highlights of the evening. They performed Marvin Gaye's Let's Get It On - a song which Andy has done previously at her own shows (Let's Get In On live at San Jose - Youtube) but which sounded a lot better with Prince on the piano (he actually did tell her to drop her guitar !).

Andy Allo has done modelling gigs, own shows, and plenty of TV show cameo's playing herself.
